We are celebrating the 23th anniversary of the Public Health Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara, commemorating a quarter of a century of a long record in science and knowledge that has made this faculty, one of the largest and most esteemed center for health science education in North Sumatra, Indonesia.
The Public Health Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara is now an established and reputable academic center for public health academic institution in Sumatra region.
The Public Health Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara were first established when many health related problems threatened the society in tropical area.
At that time our country was in critical need of enhancing healthcare system and reducing diseases. History has witnessed how The Public Health Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara has utilized very strong infrastructure, brilliant Faculty members and capable students to be among the pioneers and founders of health education and research, whom have contributed significantly in development of health sciences, training of expert workforce, establishment of healthcare network and improvement of general public health.
In carrying out its main objective and at the 23th anniversary of its establishment, The Public Health Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara holds the 1st Public Health International Conference on 1st and 2nd December 2016 with focuses on theme Tropical Health and Universal Coverage. Tropical health is coming from tropical medicine (from talenta) as the competitive advantage that must attain by university based on its strategic plan. The main objective of this conference is about the role and special status of The Public Health Faculty of University of Sumatera Utara in education, research and service provision in the aforesaid fields with participation of esteemed scholars and experts from various schools of public health of the country, the region and other reputable scientific centers from across the globe. Finally I like to express my sincere gratitude towards all of the sponsors, speakers and participants in this valuable program and hope that this event can be as another step towards development of public health in our beloved country, Indonesia.
